PRINCIPAL

I am thrilled to continue with our the Lakeside family.

Over the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of serving as a principal with over 33 years experience in education, where I witnessed the power of education in transforming lives and shaping futures. These experiences have instilled in me a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with education and educational leadership.

I am a proud graduate of Ashtabula High School, where my passion for education was ignited. It gives me great joy to return to the community that laid the foundation for my journey.  I pursued my Bachelor's degree at Kent State University, and later, I earned my Master's degree from Youngstown State University. These educational milestones have been instrumental in shaping my educational philosophy and approach to leadership.

At Lakeside High School, I am committed to fostering an environment that prioritizes academic excellence, student well-being, and inclusive growth.  I believe that each of you are the building blocks upon which we will build a thriving educational community and help prepare our students for all your future endeavors.

Please feel free to visit me in my office, or reach out via email at douglas.wetherholt@aacs.net. I am eager to build strong relationships rooted in trust and mutual respect.

I am excited to begin my educational leadership journey here at Lakeside High School! I am honored to work with the staff and students at LHS and am dedicated to academic success, safety and the well being of all stakeholders.  I had the pleasure of working with some LHS students as an Intervention Specialist and Science teacher at A-Tech where I taught for the past 10 years. I have 23 years of experience in education and am looking forward to my new role as Assistant Principal.

Rooted in the heart of Ashtabula, my journey began at West Junior High School, where the seeds of my passion for education were first sown.  My academic path led to Edinboro University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science.  Seeking to deepen my roots, I acquired my Masters in education and Administrative Licenses from Youngstown State University.

For three decades, I've been honored to serve the families at AACS, dedicating my career to shaping futures and enriching lives.  As I walk the familiar halls and see the faces of new generations, I’m reminded of the countless memories and milestones that have woven the rich tapestry of our community, each one a cherished echo of the past.
